It is made at the western end of the Loire Valley, near the city of Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region neighbouring the Brittany Region. More Muscadet is produced than any other Loire wine. Although most of these wines are drunk young, the best (the ones that are aged on lees) can improve in the cellar for many years, thanks to their high acidity. Muscadet is a classic and successful pairing with oysters.
